Sumatra: Mandiri
The Sumatra Buana Mandiri, a young cooperative in Bener Meriah, Sumatra, where 1,300 members farm at 1,200–1,400 MASL. Focused on sustainability, the group provides protective equipment, fertilizer, and seedlings, and operates its own local mill. Grown on the slopes of Mount Leuser, this lot showcases Sumatra’s signature depth and complexity. Traditional giling basah (wet-hulled) processing gives it a creamy body, gentle acidity, and notes of dried fruit, spice, and earthy richness, hand-sorted for consistent quality.
