Guatemala: Huehuetenango
About this coffee
ASOPCE is a small holder farmers’ association working across the remote mountain communities of Huehuetenango. Founded in 2015, the association was created to unify producers from Huehuetenango and neighboring areas of San Marcos and to place their coffees in international markets at fair prices. Today, ASOPCE represents approximately 450 smallholder producers, most farming small plots averaging 1.5 hectares at elevations between 1,400 and 2,050 MASL. Each producer family manages their own wet milling and patio drying, following established quality standards, with parchment stored at ASOPCE’s central bodega prior to export. The cooperative provides technical assistance, commercialization, and access to credit, supporting improved crop performance and long-term livelihoods. Women represent approximately 30% of ASOPCE’s membership and manage or own their own production units. This coffee was grown using organic practices by certified organic producers at origin.
